LOL,If you want to be the best, then you want the best stats for your buck.
If you are in Droknar's Forge, then Gladiator armor is the way to go,IMHO. 80AL+20AL Vs. Physical Damage +7 mana extra for full Gladiator armor. If you are in Cantha, your choice of styles gets better, but the same scenario can occur.
Elona,is a whole new animal, since the armor is so upgradeable that it can border on ridiculous. You can make Radiant Armor(Gladiator equivalent) by applying the insignias of the same name, but I would lose 1 radiant for a Knight's Insignia on the gloves, boots,or helm, since the -3 to damage is applyed to the entire body,if I'm correct.
Runes for warriors are pretty basic, in the since that all warriors need minors in Strength & Tactics, Superior Absorption(since they are cheap now), and at least a major vigor(since Superiors are not cheap). Also, your helm should have a rune that goes with your weapon of choice. This being the case, if you are intending on running multiple builds for each weapon, then you will need multiple helms, 1 for each weapon type.
It would also be useful to have a helm for Superior Strength and Superior Tactics as well, but that is not as important as in the beginning, so it can wait until your money gets better.
Your weapons are fine, so you should at least be able to kill what you need to live. in total, you're talking about roughly 15k in gold and 400 Iron Ingots and 40 steel ingots, give or take. That's for the cheap armor. Depending on what armor style you want in the end, the price goes up considerably. I hope this helps.

Unless you're running a build that's energy hungry, there's no reason to use glads. Shock axe and runner builds usually fall into this category, but most pve builds don't actually gain all that much from it. If you get dp'd though, you might be boned, so take that into account.
Also, someone should really just go to people's houses and play the game for them based on the number of posts I read asking "what, specifically, should I do in this game".
Furthermore, there's a thread not but 4 posts away from this titled "quick insignia survey" which goes over all this.
nominates for a /lock to the thread.
